Will’s 4th Birthday

Will’s birthday fell on a Wednesday, and even though we’d be having the big family party on Saturday, I wanted to have some treats for him on his actual birthday.  Nothing fancy – we had meatballs for dinner (his favorite), some Tastykake cupcakes, and a bag of little treats.

For the first time ever, Will was able to blow out the candle himself!  Definitely a sign that that he’s growing up, sigh…

I bought a pack of 3 cupcakes, and Will ate all three, insisting that we light the candle and sing for each one.  It was ridiculous and silly and awesome.

After cupcakes, Will got to open a little bag of treats like a puzzle book and swedish fish.  He loved it!

We all had a really fun night!

Halloween (belatedly)

Will dressed up as a firefighter for Halloween – or as he calls it, a “fighter-fighter”.  Keswick Village had a Halloween event the Saturday before Halloween, with tons of kids trick-or-treating at the shops in the Village.  Will was a little shy at first, but he was very excited to trick-or-treat and get lots of candy.  After every few stops, he would shake his bag to see how much he had gotten.  (I hope he learned this from The Great Pumpkin, and not just because he’s greedy!)

He also loved seeing the other kids dressed up in costumes.  His two favorites were a little boy dressed up as Thomas the Tank Engine, and another boy who was dressed as “a fighter-fighter, just like me!”  And he squealed with delight when he saw a mom in a Perry the Platypus shirt and hat!

We did a little bit of trick-or-treating on Wednesday night too, just 3 houses.  He was excited to go, but I think three was just enough, for him and for us.  All in all, a very successful first year of trick-or-treating.

Mommy is so proud!

After years of trying – literally years! – over the last few days I have managed to convince Will to watch not one, but two of my favorite childhood things.  I’m so excited!

First, we watched some Sesame Street cartoons over the weekend.  He’s totally obsessed and walks around singing the pinball counting song:

And tonight, we have been watching “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown”.  We had to watch it twice, and he is totally engrossed:

(Daddy and Lemur seem to be enjoying it too.)
